we took our annual big bear trip (5th year... i think that counts as an "annual trip") with my fam to visit my aunt & uncle's beautiful cabin in big bear for a weekend of wakeboarding, puzzling, cowboy poetry-ing and eating. cowgirl Bonnie & cowboy Don are amazing hosts and so much fun to hang out with. I was a little disappointed that we were not woken by "circle of life" from the lion king (apparently we are too old.. and i think Paul appreciated being allowed to sleep in :). Here are a few photos of our fun with the fam..... enjoy!

Anniversary Weekend

this weekend paul and i celebrated our 4 year anniversary!! I cannot believe its been that long...its been a fun and eventful and challenging 4 years, but i am so glad that I have been able to spend it with Paul :).
We both took friday off to enjoy a 3-day weekend at home. I was especially looking forward to that as I haven't had a 3-day weekend in forever, and I was ready to enjoy some non-work time.
We started off Friday with our first visit from our new cleaning lady! she is super sweet and was probably totally appalled at the state of our home (I don't claim to be neat OR tidy, so lets just say the house was in DIRE need of a good cleaning). It took the poor lady about 5 hours, but the place looks AWESOME. She'll be back once a month to help us keep this place in order. After that, Paul and I went to Con Pane in Point Loma for some sandwiches & drove to Coronado with the pups for a day on the beach.
It was Cooper's first day out and about with other dogs since he just got his rabies shot. I'm not too sure he loved the ocean like Chloe... but he'll learn...he's a mountain dog for goodness sake! We finished Friday with a date to PF Changs & dessert from Cheesecake Factory... they have a new cheesecake called "Stefanie's ultimate red velvet cheesecake" or something like that... lets just say it was BOMB.
Saturday we looked at houses all over Carlsbad & San Marcos with our new BFF Brian (actually he's our real estate agent... but he drove us around all afternoon & bought us lunch, so we're pretty much BFFs). I decided that I still don't want to move, but it may be the best scenario for us... we'll see. After that we finally went to see the hangover, and it was just as funny as everyone was making it out to be, however Paul's brother Stephen said it reminded him of what he envisions Paul & his friend's trips to vegas to be like ... I don't know how I feel about that. After that, I did one of the most daring things I've done in a loooonnng time..... I snuck into a movie! Paul and I really wanted to see 500 days of summer, and our besties andrew & alison were going too, so we did a little double-feature. We had to sneak past the ticket guy, but luckily there was some confusion due to the mass amount of people for the 3D harry potter movie. Paul got stopped but I kept my head down and kept walking - I felt so sneaky... and kinda bad, but then I realized that I didn't want to pay $45 to see 2 movies and I didn't feel so bad.
That takes us to today... just a nice long relaxing Sunday. Good service at church this morning then some lunch, costco and an afternoon of baking sugar cookies - none of which might I add are very good. still on the search for a good sugar cookie/ frosting recipe if you've got one.
I hope you all had a great weekend..... and a great week to come!
